- Wedding: July 2012
I knew when we got engaged and I picked out 6 bridesmaids, 1 matron of honor and 1 maid of honor – ranging in age from 13 to 43 that each have a different body type & coloring with only their height in common (from 5′ to 5’3″) that I wanted each girl to pick out a dress that flattered her and that she loved. Add in the concept that the dress truly might be rewearable and that they could buy a dress that met each of their budgets and I was sold on the concept of a different dress for each girl. Our first trip to look at dresses was a total flop, combine uninterested staff (only interested in telling me that what I was going to do would look TACKY, HORRIBLE and INCONSISTENT) with girls who generally don’t wear dresses and had no idea what they wanted to wear from all the options and it wasn’t going to be successful. Finally, I found a bridal shop that was supportive, they did recommend that I select one fabric and one designer to provide some consistency – being ever the pain in the butt Bride, I chose instead one designer and two fabrics (where the color swatch matched).
Duh Duh Dun-Uh….
After finding my wedding dress and searching through all the options in designers and what fabric swatches for the royal (sapphire) blue looked like. I selected Bill Levkoff’s dresses in European Blue in fabrics Charmeuse & European Satin!!!! This gave like 35 options for each girl – then narrowed down to short dresses left a total of 20 for the girls to choose from. Each Girl ended up with a different dress, so first I’ll show you what they chose (none of the samples came in our color).
It’s hard to picture them all together, but….. let me tell you when all is said and done…. This is what you get!
I thinkl it came out absolutely beautiful!!!!
