- Wedding: May 1993
When my DH and I were married way back in 1993, I definitely had the man of my dreams…but the ring of my dreams….not so much! I never had much money growing up, so I never spent a lot of time dreaming about the “perfect” thing I’d like to have, although I often dreamed that there’d be something nice in the clearance rack that would fit me!
After four years of marriage we came into a little bit of money, and I had an extremely flecky .75ct oval diamond set into my slightly thick, ribbon style ArtCarved wedding band. I always knew I wanted a bigger diamond than I had in my engagement ring (which was a .33), and if it had some flecks in it, well that was okay with me!!!! Then two years ago I wanted to go to a white gold setting, and bought my current ring on sale at Macy’s. It is sparkly, but it definitely wasn’t the right ring for me.
So now we have reached our 20th wedding anniversary, and I will be 50 years old this year. My husband said that for this very special year, he wanted me to have EXACTLY what I wanted as an “upgrade” ring. While we are much more financially secure now then we were back in 1993, I still wasn’t willing to go TOTALLY berserk….
But I looked and looked and looked and came upon the EXACT ring of my dreams…. It is now being made for me, and I will have it in 4-6 weeks…but here is what the sample looks like on my pinkie (my current ring is next to it). It’s a Simon G (1498) set with a .93 VS1, H, XXX round brilliant stone and I am simply overjoyed that I now have both the man of my dreams AND the ring of my dreams…..
