I am doing something similar using blocks of Oasis and did a trial run.  It works great and the flowers did stay in place, however once you cut the flowers and put them in the blocks, they are there to stay, meaning if they are cut to the wrong size, then the blocks won’t mold around the new size you want to go into the block.  They kept the flowers looking perfect for a couple days for me and I think you will be pleased too.  I found this site that I used on my trial run that helped me. http://www.ehow.com/how_6573620_use-oasis-foam-blocks.html  Good luck!

I am a floral designer for weddings.  But my daughter is getting married, too.

Before you soak the oasis, put  long zip ties running through the foam at least 3. One at top, middle and bottom through the middle.  That way they can be attatched to  anything easily up in the air.  You might have to use floral glue for the flowers that hang down, sometimes with gravity they slip out.  Put all the greenery in your foam first to cover, then the biggest flowers next, and fillers last, to be sure foam is covered.
