I am in love with my wedding dress... but I ended up deciding a ball gown (which was completely unexpected), and it's pretty massive to comfortably hang out and dance in during my reception. That being said I purchased a gown to change into after my Father/Daughter dance. I am OBSESSED with it and more importantly it comfortable and easy to move around in. Is anyone else doing a wardrobe change mid-way through their weddings? If so what did you decide on? Were you like me and ended up buying a wedding dress style you never expected?
@mishagirls79 well considering my reception is at night it is sort of a non-issue. This would be a very impressive "nightgown"...maybe I'll try it out after my wedding is over...
I love the sparkle! You will definitely be able to dance in this...the sheerness is a bit of a standout element. I had the same issue with my reception dress so I will be putting a thin slip under.
I was looking at the VERY same dress the other day on the Nordstrom website..! Love it!! I'm torn between changing into a reception dress or just wearing my wedding gown all night.... OR switching into a traditional Chinese dress. Decisions decisions! I would buy this beautiful dress anyway.. :) :) My rationale is that you could wear it on a cruise one day .. (or special occasion) even if you don't wear it for your own wedding
Ohh I love Adrianna Papell's dresses! I bought another sequined dress from her that's knee-length for a couple weddings we went to last year. I'm loving the art deco inspiration. Definitely post some recaps, I can't wait to see how your dress turns out!
Personally, I love your "nightgown" and couldnt think of a better option. It's classy, elegant, understated AND also makes an impact. (read: LOVE!) And btw, I like the picture in the sun - and hope you take LOTS of pictures like that for the pansy's out there. ...I'm sure your husband would like them too! ;)
Photos # 3 and # 4 are gorgeous... so I can certainly see WHY you are in love with this dress.
BUT Photos # 1 and # 2 CLEARLY show how sheer this dress is... # 1 not so bad... but # 2 just isn't appropriate for a Wedding Reception IMO.
(We can see your entire behind / bum in that one... not to mention "the spot where the sun... isn't supposed to shine !!")
I don't understand your logic in regards to how wearing it at night makes it being see-thru a non-issue. It is still sheer as can be !!
I mean honestly, you want EVERYONE to see you in all your glory on your Wedding Night ? That is supposed to be something you reserve for your husband, not be flashing Uncle Bob with !!
My best suggestion, buy a full length slip (or have one made) in a fabric that compliments the flow of the dress and colouring.
Thanks you so much ladies!! @suz168, @electric, @pinkmoon, @pinaycali, @VVB3, @Mrs. Wallaby, @mrsrichard, and @rango6. @romantical I totally agree with you that this is a dress that you could use at multiple occasions throughout your lift that's why I didn't mind the splurge ;).
@this time round I assure you the dress is not sheer...it is completely lined. I am not an idiot I would not wear something that shows my ass on my wedding day. It is sheer in those photos because the photographer has the model standing with direct sunlight shining behind her and is exposing the shot for direct sunlight. There are a ton of fabrics that held up to direct sunlight would appear sheer/sheerish or show your form through them...considering my reception is at night and there will be no direct sunlight or spotlights following me around I will be fine.
Here are several examples of dresses once on a person would not be sheer, but you can clearly see light passing through them when hung in direct, bright sunlight:
