- Wedding: September 2012
I’ve been lurking on this site for a while and became inspired by other bees who made purses for their bridesmaids. So I thought I’d return the favor and show what I’ve made in hopes of inspiring someone else.
I bought 4 clutch bags from Payless. They were on clearance and BOGO AND I had a 20% off coupon! So I paid like $3.50 a bag. I bought them in black because my bridesmaid dresses are very dark purple.
I bought about 7 yards of fabric in various shades of purple (Lilac, eggplant, purple, violet)
I cut the fabric into strips and then cut out a 5 petal flower.
I then layered 2 different shades of purple on top of eachother
Then I folded them in half and in half again. I used my hot glue gun to seal them closed.
After I had a bazillion of my flowers I proceeded to hot glue them to my clutch bag. And after about an hour and burned fingertips I ended up with this….
Here’s a pic of it open…..
And here are all 4 purses….
I’m pleased with them. I wanted them to look like pomanders and I thing I achieved that. This is my first post so please be gentle….
