I made bridesmaids glitter cups as a part of their gift bag. I bought the cups at the dollar store for $1, got Elmer’s Glue spray adhesive from Michaels for about $2, and Martha Stewart craft glitter also from Michaels for about $30 I used a coupon for everything at Michaels. I got clear sealer spray paint from Walmart for about $3. Last painters tape to wrap around the cup for about $3 at walmart. All of the prices listed are not a guarantee just guessing.
I used lots of newspaper free from my junk mail. I spread it on the floor had my fiancé hold another piece of paper behind the work area for the over spray. 1st I filled the cups with the amount of water I thought I might want in the cups, used a whiteboard marker to make a line around the cup, than I wrapped the cups with newspaper and tape to make a crisp line.
I sprayed the cup with the adhesive and tapped the glitter all over the cup, I did realize I wanted several different newspapers one for the spraying and one for applying the glitter, so once I tapped the glitter on I sat the cup aside and tipped the paper back into the glitter container so I could reuse the glitter for the second layer of glitter. After about 20 minutes I applied another layer of spray adhesive tapped another layer of glitter and let it sit again. After I thought it was as dry as possible I sprayed the cups with the clear sealer spray paint. I did 3 layers of it allowing about an hour in between. The cups have no glitter flaking off and I have hand rinsed them and everything still seems to be intact. Below are pictures of mine.
