My inspiration (I wanted more brooches than the 1st pic & not as many as the 2nd pic)
I started with a bouquet holder from Michael’s ($6.99 + used a 40% off coupon), 6 hydrangeas(2 sets of 3 each, 1st set was $9.99 each + used a 40% off coupon & 2nd set was $5.99 + 50% off sale this weekend), each set has a slightly different shade, this helps add depth to the bouquet & helps to take away from the “faux flower” look. I used a dab of hot glue on the ends of the flowers then pushed them into the holder (I wanted them to to be really secure) then I used the leaves from the 1st set around the base of the holder (again, a dab of glue on the end of them) and pushed them into the holder.
I like that using the holder gave a perfect round look
Then I started adding my brooches, I secured the base of them with floral tape to make them more sturdy & also hot glued the clasps to avoid them coming open. (Beer is helpful when “stringing” your brooches. (LoL
I used 22 gage floral wire (from Michael’s, $4.99 with 40% off, I’m not sure how much but I got the biggest spool I could get). My brooches are from eBay (all were $0.99 each & free shipping, all Hong Kong or China sellers), I also used hair clips, necklace pendants & earings from Dollarama ($1 -$2 each). I got my pearls from a local bead store ($1.99 for a bag of 20) and 2 strands of clear crystals ($1.99/strand & about 25 crystals), a bag of 30 black crystal beads for $1.99 and finally a box of 250 small white pearls from Michael’s for $4.99 (50% off with a bead sale they had). I also have a box of 400 red crystals from Michaels, also $4.99 with 50% off during bead sale but that’s for my bridesmaids bouquets and the left over black & clear ones will be used for my girls (each of their bouquets will have 1 large brooch and then crystals through out the hydrangea bouquet (will use white) and then I have some charms/brooche on order from eBay that are specific to each girl (cupcake, artist pallet, wedding cake and a Monkey), plus letter charms (for their names), skelton keys. Their bouquet will be similar to the 1st insipration pic I posted.
I am only about 1/2 way done, I’ll post pics when I finish it. I will be using the stems of the hydrangeas (they were REALLY long so I cut 2/3 off) to make the handle of the bouquet holder rounded and then wrap with floral tape (got a 3 pack @ Michael’s for $4.99 with 40% off + 15% off entire purchase coupons), then black 3″ ribbon with a 1″ gold accent ribbon (got a few months ago when they had a ribbon sale, 50% off ALL ribbon, black was $2.99 before 50% off and gold was $1.29 before 50% off both are 3 yards each I believe).
