OMG I love this!!!  I agree, I would add “cards” to the front, under the starfish.

I have been wondering what to do for a cardbox, and I absolutely love love love this!

I LOVE this but I am not having a beach wedding.  I am having a city wedding…can anyone think of how I could incorporate this into a city wedding?

This is really lovely! If you are leaving it on the gift table then adding the word cards isn’t necessary your guests will understand otherwise it might help. Maybe with letters in your theme colors?

jldeliago, maybe make the trunk look like an old fashioned steamer trunk?  You could incorporate your style by using upholstery tacks insteald of shells & painting the trunk with a more modern look, maybe using leather-look paper or fabric to give it a more polished look.  I might be able to help if you you tell me your style & colors.
