Is that a betta fish?! Too cool!!
Yup:) The large tables had 5 cylinders each with a beta fish in them. Our sweetheart table had 3. They were SO awesome!
LOVE the fish idea..we are also using tall cylinders with sea shells in the bottom and water with a floating candle– the fish are tempting.. too cute!
I heard that the candles flame will take all the oxygen out of the water and the fish will die though…?
Nope, my cousin who is a fish expert (she has 2 large tanks) assured us that the oxygen is not taken from the water for the candles. It’s taken from the air above. Beta are very hearty fish and since they were only in the cylinders for about 6 hours, it was perfectly safe for them.
Actually Betas can breathe atmospheric oxygen. One of the few few that can. They would be fine in the vase. I would just worry what to do with them afterwards since the males (the pretty ones with long fins) have to have separate tanks. That would be a lot of tanks
What did you do with the fish afterward? :/
We rented the entire centrepiece from a special events company. They kept them. The designer (who’s idea it was to use the fish) created a whole shelf in their gallery to store the fish in individual containers. This was a really small wedding – there were only 3 tables for a total of 12 fish.
“No fish were harmed in the making of this reception.”
This is suck a cool idea, kudos!
This is such a cool idea, kudos!
I love this idea!!!
I LOVE THIS, and really think I am going to use it. Mike loves fishing, and this would be a nice surprise for him. I will only do one per table however, as we will need to either bring them home, or find homes for them.
