These aren’t being used for a wedding, just for Christmas decoration! My mom saw these at our local fruit market but they wanted $25 each for them! I knew I could make them for much cheaper. We bought 2 packs of pinecones, 2 packs of little red bows, and 2 foam 4″ balls and 1 pack of ribbon all from the dollar store. I then figured out that the cheapest way to get the branches was to buy a real Christmas tree. kroger had 8 foot trees for $16.99 I thought that was a great deal until we got to the register and it rang up $9.99! They use a lot of branches so one tree made two pomanders. So each worked out to be about $8.50.
We started by poking a hole with a scredriver through the center of the ball. Then we used a stretched out wire hanger to pull the ribbon through, SO decided the easiest way to make the ribbon not come back through was to use a small (2″) branch, so we tied the ribbon to that and it kept the ribbon from going back through the hole. Then we started pushing branches in. Then we trimmed it up and added the decorations! My mom loves them more than the store bought ones! 🙂
SO refused to take my SUV, so we crammed the tree into his teany tiny car!
Both of the finished ones!
