Before the hive, I’ve never heard of yay flags or drink stir flags. I’ve seen so many awesome versions for your drinks, that I wanted to give it a try. Blairc123 was a wonderful bee and talked about her version here. She sent me her pdf, and then loaded it into PowerPoint and modified for my beach theme.
Tools and Costs:
(1) I used plain cardstock. I think a pack is about $3-5, but it was left over from another project. So for my budget = free. I made about 125-150 straws total. I originally printed out around 200, got lazy, and stopped. We will have about 70 guests.
(2) You need a printer
(3) I used drink stir sticks that I found at a store called Total Wine. They were $1 for 100 sticks.
(4) I used a glue stick to attach the paper to itself and the drink straw. I like to scrapbook, so I buy these in bulk and I had it around the house. So for my budget = free.
How this works with my wedding:
We will be using these drink stirers during the cocktail hour. The next picture shows what the cocktail hour will be looking like. Top Right: This project! Top Left: My cocktail hour Centerpieces. Most signs depicted where guests were traveling from. I did a few fun ones like for our honeymoon and where our bacherlor/bacherlorette parties were. Bottom Left: Images of the cocktail hour area. Bottom Right: Cocktails will be served with drink stir sticks with drink umbrellas.
The colors and hibsicus flowers coordinate back with my ‘shoe bags’ (in the basket) that will be handed out at the beach ceremony so guests can take off their shoes and take them with them to their seats… and the also coordinate with my Tears of Joy Packets that will also be handed out at the ceremony. Then the guests will get lotto ticket favors at the reception that look a lot like my TOJ packets.
Thank you Blairc123!!
