My latest DIY project was these cute little cocktail flags/stirrers. They were really easy to make and they were a fun way to pass the time at my weekend job!
All I needed was some colored masking tape (washi tape), a metal ruler, an xacto knife, and some white cocktail stirrers I purchased at Party City ($4 or so for 235), and a sharp pair of scissors. I bought two different colors of tape to have a mix but I really think you can make 230ish of them with just one roll of washi tape (about $4 each). I bought the white cocktail straws to go with my decor but they had other colors/options at Party City.
I stuck the tape to the ruler and used the xacto knife to cut 2 inch pieces (the tape was a little opaque so I could see the numbers through it).
I then wrapped the tape around the top of the cocktail straws. (the tape is very forgiving and you can restick if you need to)
Then I cut a small slit in the center of the flag (1/8 in or so) and then cut the corners to meet the center slit.
Pull off the little triangle peices and you have your flags! I am thinking I might write some little words on them (i.e. Cheers, Yay!, Celebrate, etc) but for now I have tons of cute little flags!
I think they turned out great for something so cheap and easy to do!
