ummm i love these garters!!!! And im sooo glad you made it yourself instead of buying one! Not only does it save you money, it adds a personal touch 🙂
Thanks! Yes definitely saved me money! But I am going to make a few changes to it. 🙂 I do love these also!!
Redid the garter! The darker brown rose was too heavy and uncomfortable on my leg. I like it both ways but am going to keep it this way! 🙂 It’s more comfy and lighter.
That is super cute! I love it. Is that elastic lace? I have tried making burlap rosettes and ummm not so cute. Any tips? Your fabric rosettes are perfect!
LOVE it! I have been trying to make this a project of mine as well! Love love love your lace. I cannot seem to find a good stretch lace at the width that I like but yours looks perfect. Where did you get your lace at?
Thanks girls!! That makes me feel so good to hear great comments! 🙂 The fabric rosettes, I took about 1/2 yard to a yard of fabric (fabric was only maybe 4 inches wide). First, folded one end and rolled around it, then folded again and rolled (this makes the center). Once I got the center done, I took a very small amount of hot glue to keep the in place. Then I just started wrapping the rest of the fabric (the fabric was folded in half from the folds of the center, but I liked it that way) around the rolled part. Once I got where I liked it, I hot glued the whole rosette to a circle piece of fabric. I was going to hand sew, but it was so much easier this way and you can’t even tell it was glued. Sorry, I don’t have a better explanation of it, but I thought I was just playing around with it and then realized I liked how it was looking and kept going. Haha! And the lace, yes it’s a stretch lace! I have been searching and searching! And I actually got the lace, with all the other fabric in a kit at JoAnn’s in the jewelry section. I used a 40% coupon and got it all for $2.50! I actually didn’t need as much lace as it came with so if you wanted it to be a wider width you could sew two pieces of it together. Hope this all helps! 🙂
Wow…that is SOoo cute! I love the little flowers & that the whole garter itself is just lace..love it! I just made my very first garter yesterday, I am going to keep it for mt toss garter. I am going to attempt to make my actual garter today with white/blue lace…for my something blue! I have been thinking of what I would put on it as a decoration & I think I found my inspiration from your garter! I love the little flowers! I love how alot of Bees are making their own! Just like the PP said..it adds such a personal touch & I had all my supplies already..so it’s free..who wouldn’t like that!!! 🙂
this is so unique and cute… hope i can make one
Thanks girls! I agree, not only is it cheaper or sometimes free to DIY projects but it adds so much more to your wedding!
I love it, so what did the kit look like? I want to try to find it at Joanns. Did it say it was for garters?
Here’s the link to the JoAnn’s website. This is the kit I bought! Hope this helps! 🙂
