I offered to make cupcakes for my cousin’s baby shower over this summer. I told her to go ming cupcakes and pick her top 5. While she was in the process of deciding between all the fabulous choices I ordered the tall square cupcake tower from save-on-crafts.com. When it arrived I took it outside, along with two cans of pistachio colored spray paint and sprayed the crap out of them! I had gotten some yellow ribbon as well, since the sex of the baby is a surprise they went with green and yellow colors. I hot glued the ribbon along the edges of each tier so you wouldn’t see the corrugated cardboard.
Before making the cupcakes I used the idea from jen and jakes wedding on making cupcake liner designs. They were very easy and well worth it in the end. Then I made 8 dozen cupcakes: Coconut rum cupcakes with coconut cream cheese frosting, sour cream raspberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache and cream filling and red velvet cupcakes with buttercream frosting.
I also made cute little flags so people would know what cupcakes were what flavors. Below is the finished product at the shower. (The tower held 200 cupcakes and it was full but the second picture was after people started devouring them!, this is a very easy idea for brides who don’t want to spend a fortune on a wedding cake and could make their own cupcakes!)
