Yeah sorry but using living things as “decoration” is just distburbing and wrong. I wonder what happens to these animals after the wedding is over? I’m guessing its a big ‘ol flush down the toilet for them.

Plus are those candles floating above the fish (in not enough water)?? WTF.

We’re considering using goldfish in bowls as our centerpieces and we’re going to invite our guests to take them home if they would like. We’ll donate any fish that are left over to our venue so they can put them in their small koi ponds.

Also, the fish above look like feeder fish, which are .20 each and have a very short lifespan anyway.

Another point to consider…actually two…

1. It’s not so appetizing when the fish poop during dinner.

2. The candle heats up the glass unevenly, so it is much more likely yo crack and explode if someone jostles it, toasts it, or “clinks it” with a plate or another glass.

Woooo it’s just wrong!!! That water is not treated properly for a fish to even be in there for a few hours…They are in shock from the water change. All for someones pleasure….geeez.

My boss’s husband actually suggested this very idea to me not two weeks ago. I was SO thrilled with the idea. Since the engagement every night I tell my fiance some new crazy idea and he has one by one shot them all down. So I told him that he had to just agree to this idea before I even told him about it. He is really into keeping salt water fish tanks. Which not everyone knows is very scientific and difficult. He just stared at me for a minute after I told him, smiled and said, “whatever you want babe.” Then he took a deep breath, looked away and said, “How do you expect me to create proper flow and PH in 20 or more centerpieces in less than an hour?!?!?!” I have decided against incorporating the fish because I do not want unappetizing poop floating in my centerpieces. I wanted to use Beta’s… for their color… FYI to all of you PETA advocates! 🙂

Okay, I’m going to sound like I’m crazy, but I’m afraid of fish…so much so that I had to scroll down VERY quickly so I couldn’t see the fish on this page. Anyway, my point is, if I went to a wedding or any other event where fish were incorporated into the centerpieces I would be extremely uncomfortable the whole time — seriously so much so that I wouldn’t be able to look forward at the table for fear of seeing them. Just something to take into consideration in case you have any guests like me.

My sister actually used betas in her centerpieces. It was beautiful and fun. :] People were choosing their fish before my sister asked for volunteers to take them home!

Nevermind the floating poo, odds are you will have fish floating belly up before dinner is over. Not very pretty when that happens.

I know someone who used fish in bowls as their centerpieces, and by the end of the night, all of the guys were drunk and EATING the goldfish….pleeeeease re-think this idea.

I’m afraid of fish, too, Lillindy. I would leave almost as soon as I arrived at a reception with these centerpieces. 😛 Plus, I’m sure they’ll start dying since that can’t be a healthy environment for them. The only thing more disgusting than fish swimming around is a dead fish floating in a centerpiece.
