- Wedding: September 2011
Now, this one a MAJOR money saver for my wedding. Its stressful, and pretty time sensitive. I hired a bartender, but to save money they basically were hired for serveing and insurence. How it broke down for us was:
*Cheapest Bartender bringing drinks: 4.75/ glass of house wine and 5.75/ glass of domestic beer. We had expected about 200 people about 90% over 21, and all usually have a couple drinks a peice. If everyone had 2 drinks, I would have been over budget($2000). Also, they did not do liqiour drinks, and I HATE beer and wine
*Bartenders (without drinks and ice): $350 Included set up of table, linens, 2 bartenders, 2 million in insurence (NEEDED!! If any guest get in trouble driveing or damage anything, your liable) It doesnt cover if they snuck drinks, but if they over served or served underage my tush is covered. They poured, kept it looking perfessional, and cleaned up after.
Beer: $490 up front for a Budlight, Alaskan Amber, and 2 rental taps. We had to pick up, and set up before bartender got there with wrapping them in big black garbage bags ($6), put in brand new garbage cans ($27) (the big outdoor ones) and bag filled with 2 bags of ice each($6), water to fill it out, and tied to top tap connector. We let bartenders attach taps to let them settle Got $210 back for returning kegs and taps.
Wine: $288 We did 2 bottles of wine/table (just to estimate) with 8 people per table. We budgeted $6/bottle. One red one white. I took MIL shopping because she is a wine snob.. lol I found a really well known really good white (I heard…lol) for $3.99/bottle (org. 15.99) at the local grocery outlet. They didnt have any reds for a good price MIL was okay with, so we went to the local wine store that had a major sale going on and since we got the white so cheap we raise the reds budget and got her favorite red blend for $7.50 (org. 16.99) with the 10% off bulk sale discount.
Signature Cocktail: We did a cosmo punch. Vodca drinks go over well, and can be inexpensive, and really good if done right. We bought 3 bottles of 1.75 liter platnum vodca; best I have had below top shelf, and less money than some of the middle of the line brands ($70 total) 3 bottles of .75 liter tripple sec ($39), 6 bottles of ocean spray cran juice ($24) (128 oz) and 3 containers of frozen lime margarita concentrate ($5). I mixed in a 5 gallon drink cooler with a spout (borrowed) (think those football/camping drink dispensers like gatoraids) And mixed in batches, and poured back into bottles and the extras in empty big juice jugs I had sanitized before the wedding. I also borrowed 2 glass pitchers and bought a glass drink dispenser ($5!!! major sale)
We asked the cater company for the wine glasses since they use glass for water and got a discount for them already being there, and asking oh so nicely. I would have used plastic, but MIL vetoed and paid.. lol ($50)
Everything else was plastic I got from amazon ($50)
Ice for everything. Calculated 2 bags/table ($60)
Borrowed big wide coolers to put ice and pre mixed drinks and wine for fast refil
We picked up wine when we could, and had stored in a friends cool dry basement to keep them good.
Mixed drinks were bought 2 weeks ahead to get banquet license ($10) and went ahead and got the mixers.
Picked up borrowed and bought unparishables a month to 2 weeks depending if they needed to be shipped.
Mixed drinks 1 week head to keep from stressing, and chilled them in MILs garage fridge.
Had uncle pick up kegs morning of, and set up at venue to chill and settle so not foamy. On his way he ran into the closest mini mart to get ice, they had the cheapest ice prices, andI had called 2 weeks ahead to make sure they would have enough that day
Aunt picked up all additional bar supplies and delivered about the same time as uncle.
All they had to do then was make sure the bartender knew where everything was with a list I made, and they did everything else.
Option A: $2000 for 400 drinks
Option B: 1441 for 800 drinks, and got to customise on everyone in families tastes AND I got $210 back after returning.
