I originally found a flower similar to this one at Davids Bridal for about $100 and I thought that was ridiculous, so I decided to make my own! It took about 30 minutes but only because i had to let glue dry a few times to continue on. It cost me about $8 plus the price of the rhinestone for the center (but im certain u could find something cheaper to use as the center) and it turned out GORGEOUS!! I bought a large white feather, a white flower of my choice, a hair clip, wires that had rhinestones attached to the ends (you will find these in the bridal section), and E6000 glue at Hobby Lobby. And the rhinestone center came from my mothers boutique and it was originally a ring.
So this is how it was made..I took the fake flower off of the stem and chose the layers of it i wanted to use. Then I cut the feather to the length I desired. I then used a brad to hold the layers of my flower together and I took 3 pieces of the rhinestoned wire and attached them to the brad on the back of the flower (I just wrapped the wire around it so it would hold.) I also cut 3, 3inch pieces of white felt and glued one of them to the back of the flower to hold the brad and wires inplace. After that i glued the feather to the felt where i thought it would look best and let that dry very well. When it was all dry I glued another piece of felt to one of the sides of the hair clip and then glued that to the feather in the same place the last piece was glued so the feather was sitting inbetween two pieces of felt, and I let that dry. After all that was nice and dry, I pulled the ring apart and glued the rhinestone center to the center of the flower. And that was it! I let it sit over night to make sure it was SUPER dry before i tried it in my hair! Enjoy!! 🙂
