I know that most brides have the seamstress add a bustle to the dress and that’s the end of it, but I know I’m going to have to walk around from table to table to greet guests and I want to dance and feel great all evening, so I wanted to have a chic short dress for the reception.
Since we’re on a tight budget, I didn’t want to spend more than $100 on a new dress … but I couldn’t find exactly what I was hoping for … which is something like
but with a little pizzazz. I saw this dress on WhiteHouseBlackMarket for $60 (with an additional discount) and I thought it was so nice, so I bought it ….
but I didn’t want strapless. In fact I actually liked this dress from BCBG but they didn’t make it in white, and it’s long been sold out.
So I thought ….. why not put it together? I can buy some chiffon, some crystals, and make it happen. I looked online for some “sew-on” flat-back crystals (which have pre-drilled holes on either side), and put together a couple designs based on what they had. Which one is better? I feel like it’s not as nice as the original, but I can get a close approximation.
I haven’t started it yet — this is just the plan, and I wanted to know if anyone else has ever done it and has any tips.
Also — can anyone explain to me the difference between chiffon and duc chiffon?? What are those little circly things in the google image search?
