Here is the finished article which I plan to use as a decoration in my venue:
I started off wanting to make my daughter a flower girl pomander but I changed my mind half way through!
it’s not quite finished as I still want to add some gems to the pomander and black bow to the candlestick (my colour scheme is gold & black)
Anyway, here’s how I made it:
1-cut out circles. I used taffeta that I had left over from making my card box. I had to cut out about 150 in total which took forever but I think was worth it! My circles are 8cm diameter each and I burnt the edges with a lighter as it stopped the taffeta from fraying and also stopped the circle from being so flat!
2- this is how I made the circles into flowers:
A-fold the circle in half
B- fold each side into the middle
C- fold the whole thing in half again (inwards)
D- add a couple of stitches to open bottom of the open side to secure in place.
3- I then used a dried oasis ball (10cm) and using a scalpel and a glue gun made a hole, squirted in some hot glue and stuck in the flowers one at a time. Make sure they are quite close together as you don’t want to see any oasis underneath! I chose to use dried oasis rather than polystyrene as I find it so much easier to work with!
4- keep going until you’re finished! I did go back at the end and stick in some extra flowers. Now I just can’t wait to add the gems to give it a finishing touch!
