I’ve been fussing over the old ‘to chair cover or not to chair cover’ problem. I’m not too bothered about having everything over decorated as we have a lovely venue with stained glass windows and wooden pannelling, so I don’t want to detract from the surroundings. But the chairs are so unweddingy (think children’s community library) and they are deep burgundy. My theme is vintage pastels. I even considered changing my colour scheme to red to make them blend in but they just make the whole room look underdressed.
My h2b is not a big fan of chiffon or stain bow sashes – thinks they look ‘silly’. And they’re expensive to boot. So I’ve sort of devised a plan to hire the lycra chair covers (white) and then hang handmade paper hearts on the back. Everyone thinks I’m crazy!! What do you think?
This isn’t the chair or the chair cover by the way – just a practice run at home with a cushion cover!

I love the paper heart so sweet. Will they all match or will you do different sizes / number combos? I think matching would be easier but a combo of three or so could be interesting… Good luck

Love the heart, but I personally don’t really like the middle part sticking out. Is there a way to cut that down and use fishing wire or something to hang from above? Or, maybe cover that part with a flower or something? Or, maybe make that middle paper white and different color for the rest? I don’t know, I just think it detracts.

I’m using one huge big atlas to make them – so they are all the same size (don’t worry, its an old book thats already got pages missing, broken spine and falling apart!).
The hearts are actually quite heavy because the paper is so thick and that chair is a bit bigger than the ones in my venue, so to get more than one on there wouldn’t be possible I dont think. Although I do have to decorate the front end of the stage, so maybe some different sized hearts in a row there could look really cute!
I get what you mean about the middle bit. I have a stash of acetate somewhere that I could make that mid-section out of. I could also make it shorter – just cut the sticky up top part off and attach the lace ribbon further down…
Think I might dig out that acetate and see what it looks like!
