It was going to be $100 to rent a cupcake tower, with $50 being a security deposit. so after getting some inspiration from some other bees and pinterest my other new favorite obsession i made the above. i bought cardboard cake bases from hobby lobby (come in packs of 6 for about 4.99. i doubled up each level with two boards glued together for extra strength. then covered them in fabric. i used card board cyclinders from the paper mache aisle for in between but if you’re really on a tight budget you can use cans of soup of veggies or whatever is in your kitchen cabinet. i covered mine in some burlap fabric, but also thought about painting or wrapping them in twine. then put some ribbon around to help keep the cupcakes from getting knocked off. if i did it again i think i might use wired ribbon. i put some shells around to try and distract from the glue lines. I’m also going to put a little bit of brown sugar (fake sand) around the edges of the columns to cover the glue lines there. i’ll have some driftwood, more fake sand and shells around the stand and some cupcakes sitting in the sand. i splurged a little on the fabric, but had a 40% off coupon. you can easily do this for $20-$30 dollars depending on the fabric price.
