I spent some time researching online and decided a good DIY project for me would be to create a monogram aisle runner. It was a fun and easy project that I really enjoyed and saved a ton on! 🙂
First, my dad created a monogram for us in Corel Draw (FREE)
I bought a 100′ x 39″ ivory aisle runner on ebay for $30.00 (I only needed less than 75′ but wanted extra in case I messed up.)
Then, we took the file up to FedEx/Kinkos and had it blown up to size. around $5.00
I went to Michaels and bought a large bottle of black paint for $2.00 and a pack of paint brushes for around $4.00.
I taped the monogram to the table, layed wax paper overtop so the paint wouldn’t bleed through and carefully laid the runner on top. I then secured it to the table with tape and large clamps.
I used a bright desk lamp so I could really see it through the runner. Originally, I started tracing it with a pencil first and then was going to paint over it, but realized I could do it by just painting alone.
It only took about 3-4 hours total (which I divided up in small sections over a couple of weeks) and I am very pleased with the way it came out. Total cost $41.00.
But, to me it’s priceless! 🙂
