First attempt at a Bride hanger.. I need to work on the sides for sure.. but I don’t think it’s too horrible.. Thinking about painting the hanger and getting the fiance to file some grooves for the straps of a dress… have to practice for my bridesmaids names for the next ones.. What do you think

That looks great! How did you do that? I’m thinking of doing one for me and each of my bridesmaids as well. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I’d suggest buying thicker wire (12 gauge). Also, you can buy wooden hangers at Wal-mart, Home Depot or Lowe’s that have the strap grooves in them already. They’re about $5 a package.
You’re letters look way better than mine did. I ended up making them for my girl’s and buying my own.
I found it helpful to use one long piece of wire to do a practice run on all names. Then I made the actual hanger name while looking at the practice one. Once I was done, I unwrapped the practice wire, made the next girl’s name and repeated the process.

@mdlapaz I do have thicker wire (although I think it’s just 14 gauge) for the finished ones.. this is the practice ones I wanted to do.. I bought this wire http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FK0334/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details because it was awhole lot of footage for me to practice on (200) and only $7.99..
The hangers are from IKEA and were 99 cents for 8.. so my fiance will just use his tools to make some grooves for me.. can’t beat that price.. and I didn’t realize they didn’t have grooves so I now have 4 packs of 8 lol..
@mnruby02 I used about 60″ of wire for the five letters.. I had about a foot left over so you could probably cut down.. but I kept running out of wire before all my letters were finished.. so I figured since I have so much it’s okay to plan for extra.. I read somewhere on here that for every letter to add 8-10″ of wire
As for making the curves I wrapped the wire around a sharpie pen for the small loops and around my martha stewart embossing powder jar for the big loops. i’ve heard that batteriies work well also.. Like mdlapaz said I had some examples of etsy hangers open on my computer.. You can also find different fonts you like and print out an example for the correct sizing..
Hope that helps.. any other questions let me know.. happy DIYing!
