- Wedding: November 2012
My very first completed DIY project (for a VERY DIY wedding – I’m crafty by nature and doing most everything myself is both fun and a huge money saver) was my “Here Comes the Bride” sign. The first time I saw one of these signs, i knew I needed one in my wedding. I never even looked for one to buy – I thought it would be simple enough to make myself, and this way it would be completely customized and cheaper. So, out i set to make myself a sign.
I trekked to Joann’s, coupons in hand, to pick up everything I needed. I bought the wood board, already cut into shape, as well as foam brushes, detail brushes, paint in both colors (red and a grayish off-white), ribbon for the handle, and a stencil for the lettering. Total cost for all of the sign materials: $27. Beat that, Etsy 😉
My bridesmaid and crafting partner in crime, Heather, came over and we got to work. It took the two of us about 3 hours to complete the whole thing. First, we used the foam brushes to paint the whole surface in the grayish-white color. Once that dried, i used a pencil and stenciled in all the lettering for the sign. Finally, we painted in the stenciled letters in the burgundy paint. Voila! My little godson-slash-ringbearer is going to look sooooo cute carrying this beauty down the aisle!
