I originally tried to make tulle pomanders but they took forever. Middleschoolsweethearts post (http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/my-very-time-consuming-tissue-paper-pomanders) about her tissue paper pomanders prompted me to go over to The Ruffled Blog and find this tutorial:
The finished product:
My dog next to the pomander for giggles:
From there I varied the directions slightly.
(12) packs of pink tissue paper (20 sheets each pacakge for $1.99 each at Target)
(1) wrapped package of 24 gauge floral wire ($1.99 at Michael’s)
plenty of hot glue
a ton of patience
I used 5×7 layers instead of 10×5 but the rest of the directions are the same. Each of these took four to five hours at first until I started doing everything in stages. Then it averaged about two hours per pomander.
It takes about 40 “flowers” to make each pomander. Cut all the paper THEN accordian fold all the papers THEN round all the edges THEN tie the wire around the middle and THEN fluff the flowers. Once you’ve got all the flowers fluffed and ready, putting together the actual pomanders will take less than ten minutes.
