I wanted some Giant Pomanders to hang off of our Gazebo as decoration.
Since they don’t make Giant Foam Balls, I decided on buying a paper lantern. I suggest getting one close to the color flower you are going to use.
I bought out all the AC Moore’s Pink Lilly stock when they were 50% off. I used about 122 flowers for the 16″ pomander I made.
- Paper Lantern
- Glue gun
- Glue sticks
- Wire cutters
Attach your ribbon to the metal part of the paper lantern so that you have something to hang it from. I knotted it and then re-inforced with hot glue.
Next, Cut your flowers off the stems as close to th base as you can get with the wire cutters. I suggest cutting them all before doing the next part.
Finally take your hot glue gun (after its warmed up) and Glue the flowers onto the pomander. You’ll have to hold until the glue sets. I made one complete line going around the circumference of the paper lantern. After that was done I made another just above it, and filled in the missing spots with flowers and repositioning petals. After the first row is attached it is a lot easier to attach the rest as they have something to lean against while the glue dries. Keep doing this until paper lantern is completely engulfed in flowers.
This is my completed pomander. You can’t see the ribbon, but it’s there.
