- Cheap wax candle
- Sheet of vellum from the scrapbooking paper section
- Double-sided tape
- Wax friendly adhesive (if you have it, otherwise you can use doublesided tape but its not as easy to remove later)
- Glue gun + sticks
- Scraps from your dress, ribbon, crystals, or other embellishments
- Sharp scissors (preferably sewing scissors with the pointed tip if you have a lot of delicate cutting)
Super easy to do! I got a sheet of vellum (melts, doesn’t burn), and then I used a wax-friendly adhesive to stick it to the cheap vanilla pillar candle. If yo have a hard time finding it in your craft store, use double-sided tape! To be extra safe, I overlapped the vellum a teeny bit and used double-sided tape there so it would stay down and curved.
Then I got really pretty leftover fabric from my dress, plus some bits of lace, and cut them out with sewing scissors. I used hot glue, which is not flammable, to adhere the fabric to the vellum. I added some extra crystals too, cus you know….BLING! 😀
Now when you burn the candle, it burns down the center, and the light will shine through the sheer vellum and light it up. And you don’t have to worry about setting the house on fire haha. If your candle runs out, you still have the vellum wrap with fabric, and it’s really stiff now. With a blowdryer you can heat it enough to slip it off and slide it on another candle!
