Hello everyone! Hoping for some suggestions. I bought this dress as floor stock and it was taken in from a much larger size. I don't think this had a good result with the corset. Not sure what is causing this armpit fat situation. I am small busted - an A cup. Not wearing a bra with this dress. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? Is there an alteration that can be done or an undergarment that might help? Thanks!!
Had somewhat of the same problem you might want to try a bra with it and pull the dress up just a little bit, that is what worked for me I didnt have it pulled up high enough
Thanks for that suggestion! I wasn't sure if I should wear a bra with the corset, since they put in bra cups (and I generally dislike bras, haha), but if this will help I will def give it a go! Small busted ladies - any suggestions on a good strapless bra?
The David's bridal corset tops are really great, and they stay up really well, but they are a little pricey (around $80) I had mine from before so it wasn't an expense now. If you didn't want to spend that much try Amazon, they have a few that are similar but not as expensive, I couldn't speak on their quality though.
Thanks! I was just on the David's Bridal website looking at the bras and long line bras. The long line bra might be good as I think it might help me look less "boxy" in the dress. Unfortunately I live in Australia, and there is no David's here! I am very familiar with David's as I am from Los Angeles and have been a bridesmaid a few times. There is no shop like David's here, with the typical wedding dress running $2,800! Oz is terrible when it comes to variety and pricing for shopping. I am going to try to find a similar type thing here this weekend which will prob make the $80 sound cheap! My bridesmaids in LA did get their dresses at David's, my mom was just there this weekend and suggested I look online at the shoes. I have been on their website for an hour now and am actually a bit irked as I could have gotten a much better dress in the US for the amount I paid here ($1,400 with alterations). Oh well. What's done is done. Now I just need to find an appropriate undergarment to make this thing fit a bit better!
Ladies, how do you feel about hoop skirts under this type of dress? Every time I go for an alteration they keep asking me if I want one. Do you think that might give more of an hourglass shape combined with a bra?
The bodice needs more support and is too tight. Ideally a strapless dress should stay up because the bodice and corselette are fitted to the body closely, not because the bodice is small enough to be unable to move.
You have 2 options, have a seamsteress build you in a corselette to your measurements (you need boning and cups, though you are an A cup, molded cups help hold the shape of the cup, which is right now sitting about a half and inch to an inch too low)...or purchase a well fitting long-line bra and have a seamstress use it like a corselette.
Either way, its a lack of structure in the bodice.
As for a hoop...I am REALLY against them as they look odd when one sits. I would opt for a light crinoline that just adds a little volume...
Thank you for all the suggestions. I think what I am going to do is schedule another fitting, obtain some undergarments that I will bring to the fitting (def trying a longline bra and/or strapless bra + Spanx for the waist...will be interesting this weekend trying them on!), and def pulling the dress up higher at the fitting. The more I look at the picture the more I can see that the dress is just really boxy looking, it's not flattering - it needs some shape, which can hopefully be done by boosting up the bust area, defining the waist area and then perhaps some more fluff on the bottom. I am not happy with the way it is fitting at the moment, so I def have to be proactive and do something! :) I am also bringing a bridesmaid to the fitting who can be very honest with me and help me get it right while I am there.
I think it's a nice dress and the right type for you. Yet the upper part is too tight, you don't look too cmnfortable in it. Your should talk to a seamsteress. For the rest I think you look pretty in it.

posted by lisa.rees 1 year agoThey're not really cheap but I liked my David's Bridal bra. It was more like a corset top so I didn't feel like it was falling down all the time.

You can also search "long line strapless bra" and find a bunch of options. Good Luck, your dress is very pretty by the way!
