I found a great necklace/earring set online that I really loved:
While $30 a set wasn’t too bad (considering what I know some brides gift their ladies) I have 5 bridesmaids and then plus shipping was going to be pushing $200. I already purchased brooches to add to their dresses as well, so I didn’t want to spend that much. I thought about it, and seeing that it was a pretty simple design, I figured I could pull off making them myself.
Luckily for me, the website that was selling the jewelry was VERY descriptive with the size of the pearl, crystal and crystal rondelles. So, I went to Michaels and purchased everything I thought I’d need:
I chose 6mm Swarovki bicone crystal beads (the online version used 8mm beads and pearls) because I wanted them a little smaller. The Swarovski color is Olivine.
Again I got lucky and they just happened to have 30% off all their beads and jewelry findings that day!
Here’s what you need for one necklace:
And what you need for one pair of earrings:
It was VERY easy to do, the hardest part was bending the wire so it looked right – I didn’t buy jewelry tools, I was just using a pair of pliers borrowed from my fiance’s toolbox. If I were to do it again, I might purchase the wire in a more pliable size, maybe one size down might have made it easier.
In less than 1 hour, I had 5 pairs of earrings and 5 necklaces….for a grand total of $52.12 (that’s $5.21 a set!!)
I am planning to use the leftover beads as part of my fabric rose bouquets that I’m also making.
PS – the website where I found the original set is here:
