Beautiful and unique! Did you design this yourself?
Thank you! No, my fiance picked it out. He said he liked it bacause it looked vintage, which is funny coming from a guy, ha
Some additional photos
Well he certainly did a great job! It’s funny what men say sometimes… My FI also had interesting things come out of his mouth when we designed my ring haha.
Thanks again!!! I just saw your e-ring and its gorgeous, mazel!!!!!
Thanks! Have you thought about what you might do for a wedding band to go with that setting?
Yes, I think I’m going to have two small bands to stack. In the middle would be a rose gold eternity band and the other a white gold single prong. Both would use the same size diamonds that are one my engagement ring so as not to overwhelm it. What about you?
Very pretty, congrats! This is totally random if you aren’t, but is that the Louvre in the background??
Are those bands going to sit flush with your ering? I’m not entirely sure yet what i want to do but have a few ideas floating around!
Such beautiful ring. Congrats!!! It seems you were in Paris at the Louvre?
You ladies don’t miss a thing! Yes, we were at the Louvre. It’s where he proposed 🙂
I think so, the center halo is raised a bit but it’s not that important to me if they’re completely flush.
Just Beautiful!!! Tell us your engagement story….if you don’t mind sharing!!! I love reading them!
**blushing** I feel like such a dork when recounting the proposal…
A little backstory,
When I was younger, I visited Paris and stayed with a host family. During one of our many excursions, we went to the Louvre and I saw this painting called the Consecration of Napoleon. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and I was overwhelmed with emotion. Those feelings stayed with me and eventually led me to pursue a degree an art history. I’d always had dreams of going back, but life happens and sometimes things just don’t work out.
So fast forward to July 2013
We had been planning a trip to Washington DC because I’m a history nerd and wanted to see the Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian, etc. One evening, were watching the fireworks at Navy Pier (during the summer they happen weekly) when he said he had some bad news and that we wouldn’t be able to make the trip to DC. I wasn’t that shocked as he travels a lot for work and assumed that something came up. Well, to my surprise, he continued on and said that we would be going to Paris instead. As you can imagine, I totally lost my shit! I couldn’t believe the man I love was taking me to Paris!
So on day 5 in Paris, we decided to go to the Louvre so that I could show him the painting that I’ve talked about since childhood. I was busy taking photographs when I turned around to say something to him and he had this weird, lovey-dovey look on his face. I asked if he was feeling ok (ha) and then pulls out the ring. He didn’t say anything, so I didn’t say anything (ha). Then he finally starts speaking, telling me how much he loves me and wants to take care of me and then gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him! It was such a surreal experience. It was beyond my wildest fantasy of how I ever imagine a man would propose to me. Safe to say, he’s a keeper!
