– Charm from Hobby Lobby
– Tip of 1 ostrich plume (in this case, ivory)
– 3 dark purple feathers
– 1 hair comb
– Craft glue
I began by cutting out a piece of cardstock to use as backing for the charm and glued thsoe together. While I was waiting for it to dry, I cut out a rectangular piece of cardstock to fit over the top part of the comb (to hold the feathers, and eventually the charm). I waited until all the materials were on the card before I glued the card to the hair comb.
I started by taking the three purple feathers and arranging them in a sort of fan shape; once I had glued those to the cardstock and allowed time for it to dry, I layered the ivory ostrich plume (I cut just the tip off a huge plume) on top of that, right in the middle, and glued that as well.
Once that had dried, it was time to attach the charm with (you guessed it) more of the super-strong craft glue. I decided to place it right at the base of the feathers so it would look like they were “sprouting” from the charm.
The trickiest part was getting the whole thing to stay on the comb, which was slightly curved. I put glue on the back of the cardstock, then bowed the cardstock a bit to follow the curve of the comb (bending more on the right-hand side because obviously, I couldn’t bend the part with the charm–too heavy!)
After I let it dry (and chased away some prowling kitties who wanted to eat the feathers), I was all done. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and only cost $15. Win!
