I’m making some for my guestbook and cake table. I’m using my cricut to cut out the flowers and it takes me about a lunch hour to cover (pin) a 5″ or 6″ ball. The only probelm is my cricut doesn’t like the thinner paper…..it keeps tearing. I’m playing with the cutting pressure and speed but it’s testing my patience. I love the end result though. I’m using candesticks from Cost Plus World Market. Here’s mine

These are great! What Cricut cartridge did you use to make the flower?

On your ball Alexis, did you use two flowers per pin, is that how you have  the layred look? I’m very intrigued by this…

I didn’t post these, but I did start making them today and yes, you use 2 flowers per pin. I put the first layer down to cover and white and then put on the second flower that adds to the 3D effect.

Alexis, I used Cricut’s Plantin SchoolBook cartridge. I love the look of these flower balls.

Oh Sorry I should have paid attention. Thanks for the info. Hockey – you said you had a martha punch? so did you use a martha punch and a cricut cartridge?

No, I just used the cricut….my best friend talked me out of using the punch. I already owned the cricut and would have had to purchase the punch. The thought of punching two flowers for every pin was overwhelming so the cricut won out…….but I am VERY pleased with the cricut flower’s results. It’s all about preference and how much time you want to devote to it. I wanted the look but didn’t want to punch all the flowers…..so for me using the cricut flowers made sense.

I love the look of your flowers so much more than mine, but oh well. I don’t want to go spend $40 on another cartridge. So, I am just using the flower from the George and Basic Shapes that came with my machine. I am also glad I didn’t buy the Martha punch because I know my Cricut can get it done way faster!
