So this is totally just Phase I of the baskets but again… I am too excited about all this and wanted to share with you all cuz I am probably driving everyone else around me insane with details.
I didn’t want the traditional little pre-made flower girl baskets made from satin. Ew. Same old same old. Not for me. So my original idea was to buy little silver buckets and paint damask on them and attach a ribbon.
But then when I was at Joann’s I wasn’t too crazy about the tin buckets they had… Too harsh looking for my style. So I found these cute little dark brown baskets (On sale for only $2.49 each) and also the little “R” initials. At the reception I am incorporating the large “R” monogram in damask over the candy bar, so I thought this would be a great idea to tie it in with the wedding ceremony!
The “R” will be painted dark pink and I will stencil in damask design and color it in gold. Then tie the “R” to the basket with a dark pink or champagne satin ribbon…
This is my plan… pictures of finish product to come!! 😉
P.S. That amazing damask fabric I purchased at Joann’s as well! It was a steal! I have been looking ALL over the world (felt like it after searching every fabric store, ebay, etsy, amazon, google, even Joann Fabrics themselves) for damask fabric in pink OR brown… but sadly everything I found was white & black OR pink & white… (we are having NO white in the wedding as my dress is champagne. The lightest we are going is ivory.) So…. as I was in line (#39) in the cutting section of Joann’s with a different damask scroll fabric… which I was just going to settle with since I could find nothing else… I saw this on the “Re-stock” shelf. I immediately halted the cutting (she had the blades open for the death cut on the brown damask scroll) and my day was saved as she said the pink & brown (PINK AND BROWN!!!) was available. And all that was left was ALMOST 8 yards… EXACTLY what we needed. I quietly thanked God under my breath because before I got out of the car in the parking lot I prayed, “Dear God please let me find the material today!!!!!”
The EVEN GREATER THING… it was $6.99 a yard/8 yards = $55.92 with 50% off coupon = $27.96 TOTAL!!!!
Oh and in case you are wondering about what dresses my little sweet angels are wearing this is it. Dress I found at a great price on http://www.mygirldress.com.
