Not sure what I am doing , but for my stepdaughter’s outdoor wedding reception)I am trying to force about 300 tulips to put in terracotta pots that have her and her husbands name on…..We live in North Carolina, and I did some reading up and put bulbs in theh wine cooler on 11/1/09. Most articles say to allow anywhere from 10-20 weeks ( big window , I know) to ‘cool’ the bulbs. Well, since I don’t know anything about wine, I figured my husband’s wine cooler would be a great place for them, but 2 1/2 weeks ago I discovered that the cooler I put them in is a ‘RED WINE’ cooler, and it holds temperature at 58 degrees! I’m so afraid they are not going to be ‘forcable”- Does anyone know anything about this? As soon as I discovered the temperature snafu, I planted these ‘prototype’ bulbs, in hopes that I I can determine their gestation/flowering time. I set them outside on the ( rare) sunny days and keep them in kitchen otherwise.
We do have a backup plan; (2 actually) We will have a florist do the table flowers and boquets, and I planted another 250 tulips in the yard in late October in the hopes that they might also come up….
Any advice would be appreciated.
