Me & my 9 BM are definitely wine drinkers… I’m having a get-together with all of them in June, some light snacks & drinks.. as a “thank you” for being a BM and just to get everyone together. I decided I wanted to give them a little gift that night too.. So I started thinking.. we like wine, we’ll be drinking wine that night, we like sparkly things.. sparkly wine glasses!
I bought 11 (9 BM, 1 for me & 1 for my mom) wine glasses at Dollar Tree, for $11! I bought purple Martha Stewat fine glitter & another brand of fine glitter in a darker shade of purple at Michael’s.. $5 and $4 I bought some foam paint brushes, some letter stencils & Mod Podge and got to work!
First I taped a stencil (first letter of their first name) to each glass with masking tape, brushed Mod Podge over the letter, covered in glitter.. let is sit for a minute then removed the letter.
Next I did the base & stem of the glasses.. same thing, painted the Mod Podge and covered thoroughly with glitter–the glitter goes a looooong way. We made 11 glasses and didn’t even use half of a 1.5oz bottle of glitter! So don’t be afraid to be generous, and then you only have to do one coat of glitter.
Once they seemed dry (glitter will still definitely come off even once the Mod is dried) we applied another coat of Mod over the glitter to seal it in. It looked a little yucky at first, but dried completely clear.
The next day, once I was sure the glitter was dried & sealed I tied a little bow to each stem, just to add something cute.
MOH and mom got orange, BM got yellow and I got both, since I’m special 🙂
I didn’t want to just hand them these glasses, so I made some cute little tags on the computer, bought some plain white gift bags at Dollar Tree and put the glasses in the bags.
(they say “thank you for being my bridesmaid / maid of honor” and has our wedding date on them.. my mom’s says “thanks for being the best mom ever”)
Tied the bags closed with matching ribbon on their glass…
I can’t wait to give these to my girls, I think they’re going to love them.. and it’ll make for a great picture, all of us with our matching glasses!!
They were easy, inexpensive & worth all the hard work, and glitter all over EVERYTHING…
