Personally I’m not a fan of cutting up books but it looks nicely done and well thought out.

1) As a writer, I think the trend of cutting books is AWFUL. I’m REALLY not a fan of it…

2) I LOVE Harry Potter–but I’ll never understand the point of showing the “Unbreakable Vow” chapter at a wedding. This chapter is NOT romantic at all. The unbreakable vow is about a professor who agrees to help his student kill the beloved elderly headmaster, or the professor will die himself. It’s about death and murder.

If it makes you happy, that’s great–but I think there are far more romantic ways to bring Harry Potter-inspired details into your wedding, that don’t require cutting apart a great book.

Have you seen these “Maurader’s Map” invitations? They’re AMAZING.

@weird_bunny: people are being mean.

Anyway, I think your idea is lovely, and I also plan on having a book ring holder!

Pity the boy doesn’t like HP though, so I’m not sure I can use it! Maybe Jane Eyre?

Also, even though I agree that perhaps the unbreakable vow can be argued to be not romantic, I also think there is a very strong argument that it IS romantic. It is about vows made for life, and in this case, the unbreakable vow was made because Snapes love was endearing and everlasting for much longer and much stronger than anyone could have ever imagined. It is about the lengths that we go for people we love. Family love, romantic love and all sorts of love.

Anyway, I think its great, and please post more pics of all your DIY projects. I love seeing what everyone gets up to and there aren’t often many submissions.

I understand the squickiness people feel about cutting up books (me too) but I think this is awesome enough to warrant it. And I agree the Unbreakable Vow is romantic, though I wouldn’t recommend actually casting it at your wedding, hee hee!

Gotta say, though, if I chose to do this I might cut up Twilight and paste in two copied pages, bwahaha…
