Hello, Bees! I LOVE these catala bloom bouquets, but the prices are several hundred to well over a thousands dollars! SO….I want to try and make one. Anyone have any idea how to do so? I’m sure I could find the brooches on ebay or elsewhere, but do I just cut out petals out of satin fabric, stiffen them, and form them into blooms? Sorry, I just have no idea how to go about this. Any inspiration or guidance would be greatly appreciated! 🙂 Here are a few examples of what I’m talking about.

I have never tried to make these myself, but a little google searching came up with this website.
Instead of felt on the back I would suggest buying those pretty bouquet straight pins with the jewels on them and pressing those through the front of the flower and into artifical stems. I know you can get the flower pins and the stems at most craft stores.
I hope this helps a bit. And if you do manage to make it work for you, I’m sure we’d all love to see pictures later 😀

Thanks, I’ll have to try that and see how it turns out! 🙂
If anyone has tried this, or knows of another way to make these bouquets, I’d love to hear it!

IM ON A MISSION!!!! I FOUND THIS BOUQUET ABOUT A MONTH AGO & FELL IN LOVE WITH IT MYSELF & THOUGHT THE SAME THING ALL US CRAFTY PPL THINK…PPFFF…I CAN MAKE THAT!!!! WELL LETS JUST SAY AFTER SEVERAL HUNDRED ATTEMPTS, A ZILLION FABRICS LATER I THINK I MAY HAVE A FEW NEW IDEAS. THE FABRIC SAYS RIGHT ON THE DESCRIPTION CRUSHED DUPIONI…IT HAS TO BE MADE FRM POLY/SYNTHETICS NOT REAL SILK BUT I WASNT ABLE TO FIND ANY WITH AN ACTUAL TEXTURE TO IT IN THIS PARTICULAR COLOR..SO THIS IS WHAT IM PLAYING AROUND WITH…
THERE IS A PRODUCT CALLED TEXTURE MAGIC I HAVE NEVER USED IT BUT IM THINKING THAT PERHAPS THEY USE THE TEXTURE MAGIC BEFORE FORMING THE FLOWERS & A STARCH/STIFFENER BY AILEEN OR ANY OTHER AFTERWARDS TO FORM THE ACTUAL SHAPE OF THE PETALS.
ON A POSITIVE NOTE ON THIS COMPANY I WILL SAY THEY ARE USING THE BEST QUALITY PRODUCTS SUCH AS THE MATERIAL FOR EX IS $20/YD AS OPPOSED TO $4-7/YD.. THE SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS ARE THE BEST AS WE ALL KNOW.. ALL OF THAT CONSIDERED HOWEVER I BELEIVE THERE IS STILL A HUGE MARK UP & THINK $1,000.00 IS A BIT STEEP IN TODAYS ECONOMY SO THEREFOR WERE ALL ON A MISSION!!!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE.. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT IF YOU SHOULD GIVE IT A SHOT…I HAVE SEEN ALL YOUR OTHER PROJECTS AND LOVE THEM ALL..YOUR VERY TALENTED!!!!

I have been looking for ways to make these for a loooong time, with little success.
Silk flowers (or artificial flowers) seem to be made using big iron pressing machines that use heat and force to shape the petals. I wouldn’t be surprised if the maker of these flowers has a similar, smaller set up.
I tried making these using fabric stiffener and putting the petals around a round a small styrofoam ball to help get the round shape of each petal. It didn’t work lol.

havent gotten around to trying it yet but will be in the next few weeks. Ill let you know how I make out & Ill make em for everyone (if I can make it work)…lol
Also, to: milesandbos: the could be using a small parisian hand held flower press or vintage flower press irons found but they are extremely rare, expensive & hard to find.
Good luck-let me know how you make out if you keep trying. I would love to know how you do.

This is the closest thing I could find in a DIY version
Instead of circles you could make petal shapes and then burn the ends so that they curl

I found a tutorial that’s even closer to the original!
Again it’s not exact, but I think if you add more layers, use larger circles and play around with it that you can get really close to what you are looking for!
Hope this helps
