I think it is possible. Covering the chairs should help. What is your decorating budget like? Does your site have different linen colors you could use? (My site lets us use theirs for free and has multiple colors.) Are you open to DIY. What did you have in mind for centerpieces? What colors did you want to use?
I think you should slipcover the chairs. Embrace the gray walls and choose colors to complement, which would be much cheaper than draping all the walls. Some colors would be peach, pink, champagne, ivory, white, or purple. I would drape some fabric behind cake table as this will be focal point. I love the look of white twinkle lights for indoor garden. Floral centerpieces with lots of candles would help. A great idea would be to get some flowers from http://www.bunchesdirect.com/and DIY your centerpieces this will save you a fortune.
I dont know what your budget is like but you could bring in shrubs or even fake trees. Ive seen an episode of my fair wedding with david tutera where they do an alice in wonderland theme and he had tall shrubs to make a garden out of a sound stage. Keep your colors light maybe try some white uplighting. Ilike the picture reference the last comment has. Good luck!
Secondchances - I hadn't thought about creating a backdrop for certain 'key' areas - brilliant! I am trying to do as many of the little things myself but not sure i'm brave enough to take on arranging my own flowers. The venue's linens are included - white table cloths and napkins. Then I'm going to get white chair covers with a green sash probably.
Thanks Shannon Marie - I think I'm going to go for something similar to this picture for the centerpieces and may even use a green/peach colour scheme - use teracotta pots to bring in the garden theme - but using trees is also a great idea that I hadn't considered.
Think I just wanted some reassurance that I wasn't being ridiculous! Thanks!
Am I asking too much? We are having the ceremony in a garden but are then having our wedding breakfast and evening reception here.
I am going to get the chairs covered with a green sash.
