My daughter’s wedding is at the beach next May. After playing around with several possible ideas,we’ve decided to use large white starfish to designate the table numbers. What we’re having trouble with is finding a way to have them raised off the table so they are easily visible to the guests, but also what we could use to mount them on so they are stable. Any ideas?

What about setting them up in a miniture ‘sandbox’ like they do for escort cards?
This image is from Shore Chic. You can purchase a ‘sandbox’ from them or just get some inspiration to DIY it yourself.
I also found this image of a starfish cookie mounted on a strudy backing (you could use matte board or something that’s easy to cut but provides a lot of support), which is sitting on a plate stand:
This would be so much nicer with real starfish!
Are you placing the numbers on the starfish themselve? If not, here are some ideas where the starfish are used as holders for the numbers:
I’m not sure what your looking for but I hope that helps.
Are you also using starfish or some other fish from the sea (sorry just has to) for the escort cards? I love the idea of using sand dollars as escort cards and they could double as favors! Thinking about this idea myself for my own beach themed wedding

Thank you! The pictures are great and have given me some ideas. The ones we have are large white finger starfish so the legs are more narrow, and I want to mount a wooden painted number in the center. Our place card holders are adirondack chairs which will have the cards mounted on top,as well as blue ‘beach’ umbrellas attached. That’s another thng I’m having a hard time finding…mini umbrellas in single colors. Funny you should mention the sand! That’s exactly where the chairs will be at the entrance…since the chairs are brown,I’m tryng my hand at making them more of a silver color using RubNBuf…colors are a deep turquose, ivory and silver.
The wedding & reception are at a yacht club on the bay,so we’re doing beachy elegance!
Thank you again. It helps tremendously!

Wow finding only blue umbrella’s is a tough one! All I’ve ever seen is assorted colors. The colors are almost exactly the same as mine! I’m using different tones of blue so I’m having blue, ivory and silver! I think the starfish would look great with the numbers mounted in the center. I love a layered look to things.

So, what did you end up doing for your daughter’s wedding? I’m in the same boat right now!
