Just for the record, I have absolutely no sewing experience and don’t even own a sewing machine, but I was still able to complete this project! Yay!
I started by watching this video. Super helpful for those who are visual learners and need to see each step happen!
I used the video to help figure out measurements, but like I said, I don’t have a sewing machine. My solution: a running stitch and some fabric glue just in case. Personally, I thought one layer of lace wasn’t enough, so I used two. When I was finished, I doubled some thin black ribbon and tied a bow. The terps charm is actually from an old set of earrings I never wear anymore. I used wire cutters to cut down the back and stuck it through the garter. I used a rubber earring back (I though the metal ones would get a little irritating) and added some glue to prevent it from sliding off. I plan on using the extra materials to make a throw garter. That one will be simpler because I plan on using one layer of lace and trimming it so it is shorter.
I’m sure you could get your materials cheap from Michaels or any other craft store, but they’re all way out of my way. I ordered all my material from https://www.laceheaven.com/default.aspx
1 1/2 inch satin ribbon
2 1/8 inch black lace trim
7/8 inch soft elastic trim
