I created this mock-up for the program and I have added our monogram (Thanks to Ms. St Louis) at the front of it. I know proper etiquette tells me not to do this, as before the ceremony I will not have his last name. Although my wedding is informal, I am wondering how bad or improper it would be to use it on the progam.Or should I only put this monogram on things for the reception? Or does this even look nice with the other graphic on the other fan pieces?
Any opinions will be appreciated.

This looks really nice, and I have heard about the proper etiquette, but it’s your wedding, and if you want to use the monogram on your programs, go for it! Would you mind sending me a template?

It sounds like you already know that the monogram should not be used until after you have said “I do.”

Could you add your last initial on the front, and then put your new last name on the back? I have been struggling with this too and I am doing both our initails or just our names (same style and size as the monogram, just removing the large J behind it) to the front to match the invitations, then the last fan will say.. We started this day as two and are leaving as one, thank you for….. then ending in the monogram that I will use every where.
What did you use for your invitations? Any mongram used there?
I am also putting notes/labels in my shoes that say ..put on as a HXXXX taken off as a JXXX.. super cute i think for pictures!

The template comes from http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-fan-programs/#comments
For the image at the top of each one is a font called flower ornaments from dafonts.com
If I send the template, the font will probably will not show up as it isn’t in your system.
Also for a tip, I decided not to do these, the heaviest cardstock you can buy is 110lbs. So it’s quite flimsy and doesn’t make for a great fan, I feel like they make them seem cheap. I’m going to do a few mock-ups of other types like the paddle fan.
For the monogram, I am going to leave it on, as I know a few brides who are using their monogram for their aisle runners and no one seemed to be against that.
