Here’s my take on the Mr. and Mrs. chair signs. I’ve always called my FI Mister and he’s excited to start calling me Wifey. To make these I painted boards from AC Moore black, then white. Then I sanded the edges and some of the middle to make an antiqued look. I printed out the words in the ever popular Bickham Script. Then colored on the back of the paper with pencil so that when I traced them onto the wood, I’d be left with an outline. Then I painstakenly filled in the outline with a Paint Pen – I HIGHLY recommend this over using a paint brush!! So much easier to get the details. All that’s left is to string them up with some lime green ribbon and they are ready to hang! What do ya’ll think??

Love it! I’m glad you mentioned using the paint pen. I have been having a horrible time using the paint brush! Thanks for the advise!

Up close, it doesn’t look as rich or full as paint would, but there was no way I was talented enough to do that with a paint brush! I would have used a Sharpie marker had I not had the paint pen handy 🙂

These came out great. I had a DIY fail this wknd trying my signs for our engagement shoot in 3 weeks. Complete fail! I am no one’s painter so it is no surprise that they came out crazy looking. I may try the paint pen also….otherwise, I am resorting to stickers.
