I used rather large blooms for the silk flowers so I painted our initials the same color as the flowers to keep the color throughout the entire letter. One tube of FolkArt Acrylic paint (from AC Moore) worked great, and for a few bucks it made a big difference.
If there’s one tip I could recommend, I would say that it’s much easier to push down on the hot glue if there is fabric between your finger and the glue. I cut some of the flowers into small pieces and wrapped those around the base of the flowers I glued to the letter. This way, I prevented burns and avoided any green stems from showing.
I’m still trying to figure out a way to hang the “K”, but you get the general idea. For about 30 bucks ($25 for the letters, $2 for paint, and $3 for a cheapo mini glue gun and glue sticks), I think it’ll add a nice pop of color in the midst of what I hope is a snowy night!
I managed to drop by our church for one last look before the big day. Here’s where our initials will hang. Now if I could only figure out a way to cover up that ugly sign on the stairs!
Honestly, this will be one of the only “decorations” at our church for the ceremony. Do you have any other cheap ways to add some simple decor to your ceremony location?
