This is my first post yayyyy!
A site devoted to DIY and weddings ding ding ding, a place called the wedding bee? winner winner (I’ve been Nik Bee my whole life), and fellow outspoken OCD Brides…. well I think I have found my heaven! In fact I never slept last night and was up for 8 hours reading the blog. My FI kept waking up and asking me what was wrong…. nothing nothing go back to sleep and stop bothering me! ahahah.
I have always been crafty my whole life and would see something say I can do that and then teach myself. I constantly need a huge, tasking, and unmanageable project otherwise my life is not in balance. So for the past two years I have been working on my best friends wedding as well as my cousins. Now it is my turn and I couldn’t be more excited. Not only do I get to marry my best friend but I get to sparkle the hell out of everything. Hey you guy sitting still over there, I think you would be much more attractive with glitter! Yo why you running? come backkkkkkkkk!
So at first I wasn’t going to have a bridal party, then I was, then I couldn’t narrow it down. Blah Blah Blah what I did know was I was going to make something fantastic for them. I say many of boxes on pinterest and drew from that for inspiration. Such as this…
However I did not like that it said Be My Maid? I don’t want you to clean my house just hold some flowers and drink champagne! Ok Ok if you insist you can clean my house!
You get the idea. A cute box, informative cards, color samples, pictures, and most important CHAMPAGNE!! Have I mentioned how much I love champagne? ALOT
So without further ado my bridesmaid box interpretation…
I got plain wooden boxes from JoAnn’s and painted them a very light ivory color. While that was fine it wasn’t sparkly and that would just not do. I busted out my spray glue and glitter and sparkled these bitches up! I also got small 2×3 frames at Michael’s for the top. I ripped the stand of the back of the frame so I could glue it down flat. Not before I added the girls monograms. Another obsession of mine, if it isn’t moving glitter it and monogram it! It truly is a sickness for which I need help!
I wanted to include information cards so I looked on Pinterest and edited from there. I included Your Dresses, Your Roles, My Girls, and Our Day.
I knew from when my FI first asked me that I did not want a matchy matchy wedding. So having the girls pick their own dresses was a must. Though I did have guidelines Chiffon, Long, and in my color palette. The Your Roles card was a lighthearted card just asking for their love and support. I am not having them plan anything I am far to OCD and anal retentive to hand over the reigns. On the My Girls card I had all the girls listed and a little blurb about each. And last but not least was the Our Day card explaining when and where our wedding was going to take place.
I could have just printed them on cardstock but come on really???? I found the best sequined covered paper and just had to back pearl cardstock with it. I wrapped it in white ribbon and threw it in the box.
I loved the idea of using paint chips as samples for our color palette. However after I wrapped them in ribbon and put them in the box I thought hmmmm so boring, oh I know lets complicate this times 5 million. So I found a cute label online and used it as my pattern. I used the center of the label to cut out the paint chip then I used a plain piece of cardstock for the back. I of course glittered the back piece and sealed it. Cutting out all 50 shapes by hand was a Mo****F*****r. I was so over that idea by the end. After assembling the paint chips and glitter backs I glued it onto a 7/8 inch white ribbon. I absolutely love how this turned out so I am basing my Save The Dates on this idea.
I also wanted to include pictures of dresses I liked for them, shoe ideas, and pictures of our venue. After cutting out all the shapes I was O-V-E-R it but I insisted on making labels for the pictures. Because I love to complicate things!
Last but not least I had to put a bottle of champagne. 1. It is my most favorite thing in the whole world and 2. My girls love it too! And while I was at it yep lets glitter it and label it! While shopping for champagne splits it annoyed me that the foil was gold…. DUH it did not match the rest of the box and yes I cared! Told you OCD! So it took awhile to find the silver wrapped splits.
And here is the box all put together…
I love the finished product and so did all the girls (they said yes). I wanted something classy, clean, but still me (shiny). Glad this project is over but not onto my DIY letter pressed STDs. OY VEY!
