Your bouquet is beautiful! What did you use as the base?
Im thinking of making my own bouquet but I’m not sure what I should use as a base. I was considering using a florist foam base or an imation flower.
I did buy a florist foam base but it didnt work for me, so i started over. This link was a great starting point for me. I did not use corsage tape though, i found it did not work at all. So i used electrical tape to wrap the wires after i twisted them. After i placed all the brooches where i wanted them i duct taped everything together. My florist took the same fabric from my bridesmaids dresses and wrapped my bouquet for me and he shortened my stem for me. I also bought shimery see through purple fabric from the fabric store to stuff in the bouquet to fill the middle so you can’t see the wires as much. Things you will need
Needle nose pliers
Hot glue gun with glue
22-gauge green florist wire
Hope it turns out beautiful!! It is trial and error but in the end it works out:)
beautiful!! I’m currently collecting brooches for mine. How many did you have and what was their average size? I’m looking to keep mine not too large.
I would say i had about 35-45 brooches, i didnt want mine too large either. Most of them were 2in, but some are bigger and smalller. When you have odd shaped ones and or too big ones it throws off the symmetry. Round brooches that are filled and dont have holes are the best I found. Where there are holes, you have to fill that space so people don’t see wires, which is a lot more work. I like this site for brooches:) http://www.fabulousbrooch.com/ I didn’t get any here b/c i found it after i had finished. Good luck:)
Thanks so much, I have a lot of variety in size. I have about 54, maybe I’ll stop.
If you end up with too many brooches just sell them on here or make another bouquet and sell it on Etsy.com:)
