This is lovely, great job!
Any chance of a step by step for a DIY wannabe…!?x
This is GORGEOUS! I’m going today to get all of the supplies to make mine today. Did you spray paint the boxes or cover them in a fabric?
Thank you ladies! I am pretty happy with the way it turned out!
Ashe89: I spray painted the boxes. Several light coats so it didn’t run.
I bought the boxes online from Joanne’s…think they were like $20 for the set.
Spray painted all the boxes (used about 2 1/2 cans)
After a few days of letting them dry, I stacked them and traced the bottom circle on the lid of the box below it. I then used a box cutter and cut about an inch inside of the circle I traced on the lids, and then cut the bottoms of the boxes out, also leaving about an inch or so. Then I cut the “card holes” on the top box lid.
I didn’t want to glue the boxes together, so I would be able to break them down for storage until the wedding and if I decided to sell after the wedding I could ship easily. I used several clips that you can get at the craft store or any office supply store.
Now the fun part of decorating!
I used Elmer’s glue to secure the ribbon borders. Hot glue would not stick to the painted surface. I bought the rhinestone look mesh from ebay. It is eay to work with and you can cut it to any size you want without it fraying. I also used elmers glue to glue this to the ribbon.
I bought a used David’s Bridal Burgundy bridesmaid dress on ebay for like $8 and that is what I used to make the flowers! I used the satin, chiffon, and black tulle from the built in crinoline. Cut them into petal shapes, then used a candle flame to slightly melt the edges to make them look like petals. Then sew several layers of the “melted” petals together and sewed a rhinestone button on the center. I used hot glue to secure the flowers to the ribbon border on the box.
Hope all this makes sense lol! My twins have been trying to “help”, so forgive me if it’s too jumbled.
This came out very nice! You did a great job.
Im a BM and I need to need to make the carbox for the bride, and this looks great!! Thanks for posting!!
Definitely saving this…I have been trying to figure an easier way to get my boxes black versus using fabric (idk how they dont have wrinkles in everything when doing it) LOL
