I had been searching for what to use for a card box and I saw many people use vintage cosmetic suitcases. I really liked this idea but because I don’t really have a “vintage” theme I was afraid to do this. I finally convinced myself to commit to one idea and I decided on the suitcase idea. I had a suitcase already, it had been given to me by my great-grandmother years and years ago to hold my doll clothes when I was a little girl. I am not really crafty either so I was nervous about using fixing it up because, honestly it was not in the greatest condition. So I bought some fabric from hobby lobby that was on sale, I paid 2.50 for a yard and half of fabric. I also bought some trim to make the edges look nice, I over paid for this but I blame that on my inexperience in the crafting world as well as the stores lack of price tags. Anyway, I relined it and then cut out letters for the sign and attached them with plum ribbon. I love the final product, its not perfect but I am happy with it.
I completed the sign about 2 weeks after relining the box. I was lazy, but this project if I did it all in one day probably would have only taken me an hour or two at the most. The lining of the box took me about 30 minutes or so but I had my wonderful fiance help me. I spent less than 10 dollars on this whole project, which is awesome and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. I’ve recieved a lot of compliments on it and I can’t wait for everyone else to see it at the reception.
