i haven’t done this personally but if you have a round box this will happen naturally to some extent. when you want a flat effect you have to do the sides and the top&bottom seperatly. i hope this helps.

It will happen naturally. You just have to use one piece of fabric and sit the box on top of it, then pull the fabric up and over. I know this because I have been experimenting with making my own flowergirl basket and I was getting a similar effect. I plan on actually making the flower girl basket later today. I’ve also been thinking about making my own card box as well. These are really beautiful and the two on the ends would work perfectly with my color scheme.

Pleat at the bottom and glue each pleat down on the bottom. When you secure the fabric on the inside at the top, you can make adjustments to get the ruching effect you want.
