Definitley line the mantle with something. Maybe some of those fushia pomanders. You could also put two study vases on either side and use them to anchor some dowel rods to string a banner or something across a little higher up.

Would you be interested in purchasing one of those white plastic wedding arches (I believe it would be about $22 or $23 w/ tax at Michael’s after using a 50% off coupon) and then you could easily decorate it with flowers, ribbon, etc.

It might be cute to get some of the big letters (in you initials) from the craft store (like 5 dollars) and decorate them to match your theme or colors. You can put them in the center of the mantle and then add some pink pomanders on on candle sticks or vases or something around them.

I agree with vctrshaul, initials on the mantle are so cute.  We are doing some on our venues mantle. Mine are on my profile in my DIY section, I still need to cover mine with moss.  I’m waiting til I’m closer to the date so moss pieces aren’t everywhere… but still youll have visual of them.  I got mine at Jo-Ann Fabrics (if you have one near you or you can order online) & I used a 40% off coupon 🙂

I think this fireplace is absolutely lovely. To keep it simple and cheap you can arrange vases with different height candles to give the room more warmth and romance. You could also have a garland and add fuschia flowers to make the colors pop. 🙂

Don’t do anything to cover of block the view of the fire place 🙂

I’m also getting married n front of a fireplace. I am putting framed wedding photos of our parents on the mantle. You could use engagement photos, baby pictures or anything.

We’re also draping a scroll type banner in front of the mantle with our first names on it, the bottom will be rolled up and tied with ribbon. After the ceremony, we will untie the ribbon to reveal our last name.

I have a fireplace in my reception hall.  We are planning on decorating it with a tone of candles on wood blocks on each side and in front of the fireplace.  (It’s an August wedding…  so there is little chance we will be lighting a fire in the firepace) We are also planning on putting flowers up on the mantel in mason jars.
