I’m new to this DIY stuff, but am getting married next August on a tight budget so I’m trying my hand at it. I would love some thoughts on these Save The Date postcards! The ones I see on here look so professional and I’m not getting the same feeling from mine.
Thanks in advance!

I love your postcards. I especially like the second one. What are your wedding colors?

A couple things that may help… when sizing your image to fit hold the shift key, then grab the corner of your image and drag it to the size you want it, this will maintain your aspect racio and your faces will not be squished. When choosing colors go for something you may not expect. Obviously your colors are purple and pink, but try using this pallet the hex codes are even given on this website: http://www.colorhunter.com/palette/751799. So swap out the black for dark gray, white for pale yellow, and your purple and pinks for ones more like the ones on this site. Also, you could spice up yoru text by finding a unique font on dafont.com. You are definatlly on the right track to something really unique, just a few minor changes and it may start to give that feeling you are looking for.

i LOVE the second one! looks awesome 🙂 the only thing i would suggest is it might be an idea to play around with is the colours. I would say dont use so many different colours. If you want pick and purple then use 2 different shades of purple and 2 different shades of pink. I finished my save the dates a couple of weeks ago now and i did mine on the computer too, i was really happy with them 🙂

Where can you find the shape that your name is in?

Cheeks, I just made it on Word. It was a quickshape and I just colored it in.

I would double up the shape your name is in and add a white one too. That pink looks a little bright next to the purple. If you copy and paste the pink one and then change it to white and stretch it or shrink a bit. i can’t decide whether I think it should go inside, outside or both. So I would try it and see if it enhances it a bit.
Actually… I would make the inside of the shape white – do a double border pink and purple and change your name text to purple and pink too.
the colors for your second one look a lot better.
The first one (horizontal) has a warped picture – always stretch from the corner. If you look at the picture tool bar – the last button on the end restores photos to their original size and shape. you can also crop the photo as needed by using the button that looks like a black box frame.
It does look great though. If you are going to print them yourself consider the amount of ink you need or the quality of your printer. It does not cost much to print something like this at Staples in their print center (or Kinkos or wherever) especially if there are 4 or so per page.
